4. Special report - Colombian Feature Films 2006-2012
- Of the 94 productions released commercially between 2006 and 2012, 85 benefited from national feature film promotion funding, which accounts for 90% of total Colombian productions released in theaters in the country during that period.
- Funds invested from 2006 to 2012 increased by 166%.
- The 85 productions that accessed national feature film promotion funding invested a total of $ 123.96 million dollars at different stages of production and promotion.
- The average costs per film include 60 thousand dollars in the development stage, 141 thousand in pre-production, 595 thousand in production, 300 thousand in post-production and 381 thousand in promotion.
- Between 2006 and 2012, the average cost of producing a film in Colombia rose to 1.48 million dollars.
- 62% of Colombian productions sampled took in less than 50% of the budget spent on production at the box office.
- The 26% of Colombian productions sampled took in over 100% of the budget spent on production at the box office.
- The main co-producer is Spain with 61% of total co-production, followed by Argentina with 8%, and Mexico and Panama with 7% each.
- 16 projects received funding in the development stage, 17 in pre-production, 29 in production, 29 in post-production and 13 in promotion.
- 65% of international co-productions took place between 2010 and 2012.
