Juan Camilo Pinzón

A graduate of UCLA, writer, director and producer Juan Camilo Pinzón has produced countless award-winning television programs, commercials, documentaries and music videos. In fraganti is his first film. “I saw a more mature story, less rooted in quick jokes and aimed more at dark humor and satire, characters that were more developed, while still bearing the characteristic mark of its production company,” stated the director when asked to speak in an interview about the challenges involved in making the film.
 
Pinzon has directed spots for Air California, Tianguis, La Favorita Bakery, United Nations, Pirelli, Repsol, Visa, Colombian Office of the President, Ministry of Public Health, Dell, UBS (Swiss Bankers Union), Club Deportivo Los Millonarios and Avianca and directed advertising campaigns such as “Mi cuerpo es territorio seguro” and “En todo tu derecho” for the United Nations Population Fund, to name only a few.
 
Pinzón directed the music videos “Amor soñado” for Mariata; “No te mueras de amor” for Andrea Echeverri and “Gaira Música Local” for Gaira Producciones. He also directed the video of Colombian actress Amparo Grisales in Egypt, Greece and Germany.
 
The bulk of his experience has been in television where his work has won numerous awards such as the India Catalina for Best Director and Best TV Soap at the Cartagena International Television and Film Festival; a Caracol Award for Best Director and Best TV Soap; a TV y Novelas award for Best TV Soap. He was nominated on a number of occasions for both the Simón Bolívar award and the INTE (Ibero American Television Excellence) award.
 
Pinzón produced and directed the documentary Portagayola for Discovery Networks; designed and produced Dream Catcher Project and the documentary series Incógnita for the same company; designed and directed the “Coca-Cola Concerts”; produced and directed the documentary series “Señales” for Proyectamos TV and “Recorridos” for Canal Caracol in the US; directed TV Cine’s docudrama “Siguiendo el rastro” for Canal Caracol and producer Jorge Alí Triana; directed the reality shows “Popstars” for Productora Teleset and “Desafío 2005” for Canal Caracol; and directed TV soaps and series such as “Un mundo para Julius”, “María madrugada”, “Pecados capitales” and “Dora la celadora” for Canal Caracol and “En los tacones de Eva”, “Verano en Venecia” and “Guajira”, where he acted as assistant director, for Canal RCN.
 
While studying in the US, Pinzón directed several short films; In fraganti (2009), produced by Dago García Producciones is his first feature film as a director, but he is currently developing other projects such as writing, directing and acting as executive producer for Luto with Greenleaf Cinema (SAS) and Radio Televisione Italiana (RAI); producing and directing the feature films Tierra de nadie and Nocturno for Canal Caracol; and writing and directing the feature film Felisa Romero tiene memoria with Madreselva Cine.
