The Rome Film Festival was born in 2006. Since its inception, it has established itself as one of the most important international film events. It has paid special attention to ensure the participation of local organizations spanning the entire capital city and the Lazio region. The main prizes of the contest are the Golden Aurelius Award for best film, followed by the awards for best director, best performances by a woman and a man, and others. There is also a special jury prize.

The Parco della Musica Auditorium has been the heart of the festival since it began with its red carpet and screening rooms. The festival was born thanks to the will and patronage of the former mayor and great cinephile Walter Veltroni. It is organized by Fondazione Cinema per Roma, with the support of founding members and its main partner BNL Gruppo BNP Paribas.

The film Brothers (Hermanos) by Pablo González was part of the Official Selection, where it competed along with 38 other productions from the United States, Mexico, Finland, Argentina, South Africa, France, Brazil, Italy, Poland, Ukraine, Hungary, Lithuania, Denmark, Belgium , Luxembourg, Germany, Canada, Taiwan, the Netherlands, Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, United Kingdom, and India, among others.

In Brothers, after serving a seven-year sentence for driving a motorcycle in a robbery attempt, Federico Fierro returns to his hometown in search of redemption. However, things have hardly changed: his mother still adores him, his father continues to distrust him, and his brother Ramiro is still involved in shady business.

Federico tries to build a normal life as a miner, but he soon finds himself dragged into Ramiro's involvement with a local gangster. The two brothers descend into violence and chaos as they race against time to settle their debts by any means necessary and save their family and themselves from the implacable fate that hounds them.

The film stars Alejandro Buitrago, Rodrigo Hernández Jerez, Emilia Ceballos, Jairo Camargo, and Ana María Sánchez.
