Ana Piñeres
Ocaña, 1974 - Bogotá, 2023. She was an executive and creative film and television producer who devoted much of her life to advancing the industry.
Ms. Piñeres held various roles throughout her career, including General Manager, VP, and Executive Producer of CMO Producciones and CMO Internacional. She was also the President of the Colombian Association of Independent Film Producers (ASOCINDE) and a founding member and former representative of film producers on the board of directors of the Colombian Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (ACACC) and the board of directors of Proimágenes Colombia for two terms.
Moreover, she served on the board of directors of Egeda Colombia, was a member of the jury of the Film Development Fund (FDC), Ibermedia, and others, and was a guest lecturer and professor at several universities in the country.
Ms. Piñeres graduated from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana with a Social Communication and Journalism degree. She also obtained a degree as an Expert in Transmedia Social Television and New Audiovisual Narratives from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos III in Madrid and the Escuela Unidad Editorial. In addition, she holds a Master's Degree in Scriptwriting for Film, Television Series, and Transmedia from Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, a Master's Degree in Spanish and Latin American Literature from Universidad de Barcelona, and a Diploma in Finance from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, among other qualifications.
She began her career as a producer and presenter of her own radio programs at Javeriana Estéreo and Radiodifusora Nacional de Colombia radio stations. She then worked as a journalist and Portuguese translator on the radio show La FM under the direction of Julio Sánchez Cristo. Additionally, Ms. Piñeres was a music columnist for Diners Magazine's Ana Vitrola section for five years.
While at the Ministry of Culture, Ms. Piñeres worked in various roles, including director, producer, assistant director, editor, Portuguese translator, and music director for documentaries and storylines. She collaborated with renowned directors such as Roberto Triana, Paula Gaitán, and Sylvia Amaya. Furthermore, she conducted several audiovisual investigations with journalist Jorge Enrique Botero and was involved in creating the programming grid La Franja for Señal Colombia.
In 1999, Ms. Piñeres became an advisor to Sylvia Amaya Londoño, the head of the Directorate of Cinematography, where she worked in the production and dissemination area and coordinated the National Cinematographic Call for Films. That same year, she translated the Brazilian Audiovisual Law for the Fondo Mixto de Promoción Cinematográfica Proimágenes Colombia.
In 2000, she joined forces with Clara María Ochoa to establish CMO Producciones. She then assumed the roles of executive producer and director of the project management division. In these capacities, she produced and executive produced films such as Soñar no cuesta nada (Dreaming Doesn't Cost Anything) by Rodrigo Triana, Esto huele mal (This Smells Bad) by Jorge Alí Triana, and Siempreviva (Evergreen) by Klych López. Additionally, she worked as a production manager on Del amor y otros demonios (Of Love and Other Demons) by Hilda Hidalgo, post-production coordinator and press chief on Como el gato y el ratón (Like Cat and Mouse) by Rodrigo Triana, and press chief on Kalibre 35 by Raúl García. Ms. Piñeres also produced a range of popular TV series, including Tarde lo conocí (I Met Him Too Late), La niña (The Girl), Fugitivos (Fugitives), La ronca de oro (The Voice of Freedom), Bazurto, La promesa (The Promise), and Correo de inocentes (Innocents' Mail). In 2011, CMO Producciones received the ISO 9001:2008 certification from Icontec International, making it the first film and TV series production company in Latin America to receive this quality seal.
Ms. Piñeres served as a judge on several occasions in various scriptwriting and filmmaking scenarios, including Ibermedia, the Film Development Fund (FDC), and the Master's Degree in Creative Writing at the National University of Colombia. She also conducted seminars and diploma courses on audiovisual creation and development and the entire audiovisual production chain at various universities in the country. Through these efforts, she supported the growth of emerging cinematographies in Colombia.
In recent years, Ms. Piñeres was involved in the production of various TV series, including La reina del Sur(The Queen of the South), Pálpito (The Marked Heart) 1, Pálpito 2, and Pasión de Gavilanes (Hidden Passion), all of which were made possible through the support of Fondo Fílmico Colombia - FFC (Colombian Film Fund). Also, she produced En el verde mar (In the green sea) by Klych López, ¿Cómo te llamas?(What's your name?) by Ruth Caudeli, and La venganza de Analía (Analía's revenge) for Caracol Televisión.
