Producer
Alberto "Beto" Rosero
Colombian filmmaker, producer, and curator with a degree in Communication and Journalism. He is a member of the Colombian Academy of Cinema, Berlinale Talents Buenos Aires, the Global Climate Storyteller Network, and Global Impact Producers. He has served on the curation committees for the International Street Film Festival (FICICA) and the Cartagena International Film Festival (FICCI), as well as the pre-selection committee for the Sima Awards.
His projects have been featured in film markets and labs worldwide, including TorinoFilmLab, ChileDoc, and BAM. His productions have earned nominations for the IDA Documentary Awards, the International Cinephile Society (ICS) Awards, and the Macondo Awards, presented by the Colombian Academy of Cinema.
Throughout his career, he has taken on various roles in the film industry, from running film clubs to working as an assistant director on multiple films, including El cuento de Antonia (Antonia’s Tale), which won the Tiger Award at IFFR 2017. He directed Causas elevadas (Elevated Causes, 2021) and produced the series El placer de escaparse del mundo (The Pleasure of Escaping the World). His work also includes producing the short films Bandera roja (Red Flag, 2023), which had its international premiere at IDFA, and Two-Spirit (2021), which won the Santa Lucía Award at the Bogotá Short Film Festival (Bogoshorts) and screened at over 60 festivals worldwide, including IDFA and Palm Springs.
He also produced the feature film Alma del desierto (Soul of the Desert, 2024) by Mónica Taboada-Tapia, a Colombian-Brazilian co-production that had its world premiere at the Giornate degli Autori section of the Venice Film Festival, where it won the Queer Lion. It also received the Special Jury Prize and the Coral Arrecife Award at the Havana Film Festival.
Beto Rosero is currently producing the films El cedro (The Cedar), De la villa (From the Village), and Reina del pueblo (Queen of the Town) with Guerrero Films, with support from the Film Development Fund (FDC).
