FDC 2025 Competition Stimuli Open

The National Council for the Arts and Culture in Cinematography - CNACC announced that the call for the Film Development Fund - FDC 2025 presents new features for this year, which includes 2 opening moments and the expectation of delivering around $19 billion in its different modalities. The first stage focused on writing, development and preservation of memory will be open until May 2.

Two films compete in cannes

Simón Mesa Soto returns to the world's most important festival with his second feature film, Un poeta, which will participate in Un Certain Regard. And the co-production Culebra negra, directed by French director Aurélien Vernhes-Lermusiaux, will have its world premiere in the parallel section ACID Cannes, which has been the stage for the first films of several renowned filmmakers in recent years. Both are beneficiaries of the FDC.

Premiere of Agua Salá and Astronauta

Agua salá, directed by Steven Morales Pineda and beneficiary of the FDC, will premiere on May 1. Paul Vega's Astronauta will hit theaters on May 8. Both productions are the debut films of their directors.

The 42nd Busan International Short Film Festival (BISFF) will be held from April 24 to 29 in South Korea. This edition highlights the richness and diversity of our cinematography in short film format, thanks to a joint effort with the Bogoshorts Universe and the support of Proimágenes Colombia.

Colombian Presence in Toulouse

In the 37th edition of the Toulouse Film Festival, Colombia was represented with a selection of fourteen productions that reflect the country's diversity and talent: Horizonte (Horizon), Malta, and Querido trópico (Dear Tropics) in the feature film competition; Alma del desierto (Soul of the Desert) in the documentary competition; Estamos en el mapa (We Are on the Map) and Afuera el mundo cae sobre mi cuerpo (Outside the World Falls on My Body) in the short film category; two short films in the Focus: Indigenous Voices and Perspectives section; and the country's participation in activities for professionals. Querido trópico and Alma del desierto received prizes.

Seven Colombian Films at the Chicago Latino Film Festival

Por cielo y tierra (Through heaven and Earth), El vaquero (The Cowboy), and A menos que bailemos (Unless We Dance) had their Chicago premieres at the Chicago Latino Film Festival; Estimados señores (Dear Gentlemen), opening the festival, and Horizonte (Horizons) had its U.S. premiere. Meanwhile, Semillas (Seeds) and Sed (Thirst) had their world premieres during the 41st edition of the event.

P versus NP in the VdR Development Lab, El fin de los tiempos (The End of Time) in the VdR Preliminary Cut Lab and El príncipe de Nanawa (The Prince of Nanawa; Argentina, Paraguay, Colombia, and Germany) in the International Feature Film Program represented Colombia at the event.

The short film, directed by Carlos Velandia, will be part of the Official Off-Limits Selection at the festival, from June 8 to 14. It won the Bogotá Audiovisual Market - BAM 15 in the ROUGH SHORTS category.
