GENRE: Documentary
RUNNING TIME: 84 min
STATUS: Post Production

Estancia is a house located in downtown Medellin (Colombia), doomed to disappear, in a city that has been oblivious to its own past. The tenement house there, ran by old and lonely men, who for various and strange circumstances ended up in a place they never expected and that even makes it seem as though they could not escape. Álvaro and Guillermo have shared a love of over half a century. Their stories have reconstructed an unusual, underground, hidden city. Raúl, the youngest in the house and Guillermo’s current partner, describes this house as a hell of bitterness and reminds us that smoking is the only pleasure he has left in life. Javier, the opposite of this polyphonic documentary, is the mystic one, wears a kimono and is a Mormon and a multilevel salesman. A house, a labyrinth, a family, as unstructured as any other, where dialogue only seems to occur through discontinuous conversations, where the perception of some becomes the question of others, in a framework that is not exempt from conflict, enigmas, silence. Estancia, a place that has as many rooms as potential universes, separated by chasms made of endless stairs, dark hallways and bright thresholds.
