In 1966, Colombia was moved by the courage of a group of teachers who undertook an unprecedented march in defense of public education. Isbelia Quinto de Fernández and Consuelo Lozano were part of the 800 walkers who set out to make the 1600-kilometer journey, from the Caribbean Sea to the Bogota highlands, and of the 86 who managed to get there. Known as The Hunger March, one of the most relevant precedents in the conquest of the teaching statute and the fight for education in Colombia.
