Chocó, a fearful and compassionate girl, must face her worst nightmare when her brother, Nuquí, is devoured by Mukira, one of the monsters stalking her village. Driven by her instinct and guided by the wisdom of Lolo, a mysterious and magical old woman, Chocó will embark on a journey in search of the monster to perform a dangerous ritual to bring Nuquí back. However, after capturing Mukira, Chocó will understand that monsters are far from being what humans believe. A discovery that will lead her to make decisions that will change her destiny, that of her people...and that of the monsters.
