Synopsis
Francisco, now forty, was raised in the middle of the infamous period in the history of Colombia known as “La Violencia” (“The Violence”), a civil war of unprecedented brutality. His father, Juan Cristo, was a farmer who abandoned his family to become became a murderer in the name of a party he did not even know very well. Today is New Year’s Eve and the tenth
anniversary of Francisco’s mother’s death. It also marks the moment when, as requested in her will, Francisco and his father should settle their differences and tear down the fence that divides their lands. When Juan Cristo unexpectedly appears at his son´s house, they start talking after many years of silence and decide to spend New Year’s Eve together. Francisco confesses his dreams as liquor fires up their moods, but with all the hate and rencor still alive, bringing down the fence between father and son will prove all the more difficult.
