Synopsis

In September 1st¸ 2002¸ about 800 inhabitants of the shores of the Atrato river in the Colombian West¸ went back to their houses after living displaced in the city of Quibdó. Four months before¸ the confrontation between the guerrilla group FARC and the Paramilitary groups left 119 civilians dead in Bojayá. The massacre originated one of the greatest displacements in the Atrato Medio¸ inhabited by black and indigenous communities. Bernardina¸ the oldest woman in BojayḠtells the story of the return and she describes¸ along with other inhabitants¸ the sensations awaken with their return to the town. In December¸ year 2002¸ THE RETURN got the Prize Euronews - International France Radio (Prize Juan Rulfo in Television) to the best report in Latin American television of year 2002.
