Synopsis

In 1991, Medellin is a dangerous place to live. Rules have changed and even the police have a price on their heads. Death threats on his mother, force “El Flaco” to flee to London. Before he leaves, his friends and girlfriend, Malala, throw a going-away party, complete with a rock’n’roll band, and despite the fear in the streets. After a few months, El Flaco “returns” to a city that has not changed: war continues and bombs still explode. His reception comittee includes Malala and her new boyfriend, Caliche; Pipe, the handicapped drug addict; and “La Comadreja” (The Weasel), a loser without scruples. A drive up to the airport on their loyal van, “Bola de Nieve” (Snowball), becomes a way of exorcizing the dreadful pleasure of being from Medellin. Together, they experience, alongside El Flaco, the Apocalípsur (Apocalypsouth, as in South America).
