JUANA HAD GOLDEN HAIR

Synopsis

A magician reveals the existence of Juana, a girl who lives in the town of Ciénaga and who has the particularity of having her hair of pure gold. A journalist, who by chance witnesses the spectacle, decides to seek her out and publish her story. Authorities and local dignitaries struggle over her custody, until the bishop prevails. Juana is confined to the parrish, her hair is cut in order to knit holy clothes, and is forced to domestic chores. Due to pressure from the locals, who demand her hair to relieve their poverty, Juana is forced to marry the town mayor. At Juana’s suggestion, the mayor decides not to consumate their marriage, and decides cut and store her precious hair. Until one day, Juana breaks free.
