Synopsis
In the exotic landscapes of the Colombian Caribbean Coast, Vallenato music has magic effects: it soothes crying babies, turns away the storms, increases egg production, and cheers up cotton harvesters. This is the setting in which “Poncho”, an eleven-year-old boy and talented vallenato performer, pursues two dreams in his life: to be The King of Vallenato, and to win over the love of his life, Sara Maria. But achieving those dreams won’t be easy. Poncho is growing up before his time because of economic hardship, and constant humilliation by his chauvinist father. Besides, Poncho has to suffer the attacks of Pepe, Sara Maria’s other suitor, who wins over the girl through lying and trickery. Along a magical journey in search of an accordion, Poncho learns the values of friendship, kindness, and love that eventually turn him into the mythical character known as The Angel of the Accordion.
