Synopsis

Ignacio Carrillo travelled all his life throughout villages and regions of northern Colombia, carrying music and traditional songs. His instrument, the accordion, is said to be cursed because as legend goes, it once belonged to the devil. As he became older, he married and settled in a small town, leaving his nomadic life behind. When his wife suddenly dies, Ignacio decides to make one last journey. He will return his accordion to his teacher and mentor, who first gave it to him, and will vow never to play the instrument again. On the way, he is joined by Fermín, a teenager who dreams of becoming a “juglar” (minstrel) like Ignacio, and to travel all around playing the accordion like he did. Together they journey the enormous diversity of Caribbean culture and survive all kinds of adventures. Ignacio will try to convince Fermín to take a different path in life, having learned that his path only led to solitude and sadness. But the lesson requires that he tend to his calling and face the different destinies that lie for him and his pupil.
