Synopsis

November 6, 1985: an ailing Rosalbina León discovers through television that the M-19 guerrilla movement has just seized the Palace of Justice in Bogotá. Her daughter Luz Mary worked at the cafeteria. Elsewhere, Pilar Navarrete, wife of the waiter Hector Beltrán, learns of the story and seeks help. Sandra Beltrán sets out for the Plaza de Bolívar together with her mother to find out what has happened to her brother. Following the 28-hour battle between the army and the guerillas, which resulted in more than 100 victims, the families of the cafeteria employees and their patrons begin a traumatic search that has not come to an end: their loved ones were never found, due to forced disappearance. Magistrates, former members of the guerrilla group, families, journalists, lawyers, and others, retell their stories of the siege. Meanwhile, Rosalbina, Pilar and Sandra have never stopped searching for their loved ones. We follow their daily lives, at work and with their current families, and as they participate in the commemorations organized every November 6th, we face the legal questions: How is a criminal and international suit filed? What proof do these families have of the fact that the employees left the Palace alive, and then disappeared? What political protection are they given in light of current pressure on the Supreme Court to establish a Truth Commission and to reopen the investigation by the Attorney General’s Office?
