Synopsis
The reality of poverty and war hangs over the lives of the young men of El Paraiso (Paradise), a poor neighborhood with a privileged view over the city of Bogotá. Ronald, 19, rides around the dusty streets on a pimped-up bike advertising by megaphone for clients ranging from the seamstress to the modest motel down the street. He is in love with Lady, a neighborhood girl. But the love story is absurdly truncated by chance when an ambitious lieutenant and an unscrupulous sergeant establish an operation of false combat casualties, with the aim of obtaining promotions and rewards. Through Susana, a false recruiter who works for the sergeant offering job opportunities outside the city, the young men of the neighborhood are tricked to their death at the hands of the lieutenant’s unit. Though tired of what she does and sympathetic of Ronald’s looming fate, Susana is ultimately incapable of stopping the circle of horror when she delivers him to his death after a one-night stand
