Synopsis
17-year-old Tomas and his younger sister Marcela, leave home one day to attend a fancy dress party. But she never comes back. A year later, Tomas and his family go on a trip to an isolated country house, intending to heal their wounds. He feels respondible for the past, and the weight of oncomprehension makes him reclusive and estranged. His mother Susana uses routine and denial to hide her pain from her younger children, a pair of seven-year-old twins who can't distinguish fantasy from reality. Their aunt Angelica, and their oldest brother Juan, have just arrived back from abroad, and can only make the atmosphere even murkier with their ambiguos and confusing intentions. Amongst a beautiful but claustrophobic landscape, the healing trip will soon turn into collective hell. Tomas's deep attraction towards his aunt, memories of Marcela's death, and the fantasy spiral that surrounds the twins after Angelica's macabre bedtime stories, will sink family members in a state of nightmarish insanity that some may not survive.
