Synopsis
By the end of the 1990s, the FARC had attacked 17 police stations and military bases throughout Colombian territory. By 2000 they had taken 400 people hostage. Some of the hostages didn't survived, others regain their freedom after over a decade of being held in captivity. This documentary focuses on the lives of Gloria, Ninfa and Norma, wives of three policemen kidnapped by the FARC, at the moment when their husbands are about to be released. Through all those years the women had only their memories to live on, along with the scarce evidence of survival they received and raised their children by themselves as they grew from children to teenagers, in some cases never knowing their fathers. What waits for these women upon the return of their husbands? How will their lives change? What ghosts, problems and trauma will they have to overcome? Years of suffering are condensed in those few moments of anxiety and expectation, waiting for a reunion the women have dreamt of again and again. An extremely human and touching film that ends with the policemen talking about their feelings as the kidnapping remains and will continue to remain present, even though it is physically part of their pasts.
