Synopsis

Very close to Cartagena is located the village of San Basilio de Palenque, a community considered to be one of the last vestiges of Maroon resistance  and  the African culture that came to America. The resistance story  is the story of  Benkos Biohó, a runaway slave from Guinea who along with other maroons from Senegal, Angola and Nigeria, founded San Basilio de Palenque. This is the story of “The Call of Benkos” a documentary by filmmaker Diana Kuellar that allows a different interaction with the viewer by leaving the theaters to be projected in a space traditionally used for the presentation of other works: the museum.
