Synopsis
A mysterious case is assigned to the police detective Mariano Corzo: a trunk that was shipped with a false destination at the train station. Both the consignee and the remittent have a false identity and address. Red chronicle press journalist Hipolito Mosquera draws his own investigation with the aid of detective Alvaro Rosas. Mosquera publishes the results of these enquiries in the chronicle “The Case of the Pink Trunk”, from which a strong rivalry arises in between the Corzo’s investigation, and the press chronicles written by Mosquera. Searching for significant clues, Corzo meets Martina, a young widow who owns the café where detectives and journalists meet every night. Love at first sight strikes him, but he remembers the promise he made to his dying mother: not to ever engage with a woman. Still, he continues to visit her, as she informs him on the frequent meetings that Rosas and Mosquera hold at her café. The case takes too long and the resolution is far away, so the Police Chief closes it. Corzo feels disappointed, but keeps on investigating on his own. Believe it or not, the answer has always been in front of him. If he unveils the mystery he’d be recognised as the smartest detective at the police station, but his secret love for Martina puts him at a crossroads. Should he go for his professional success, or is it time for him to end up his eternal solitude.
