Julián Román

Julián Román was born on November 23, 1977. He began acting at age seven together with his father, actor Edgardo Román (La historia del baúl rosado). Julían took part in workshops at the Luis Enrique Osorio School of Theater of Bogota; studied performing arts, stage space, and body expression at the Teatro Popular de Bogota; and trained with his father at the “Actuemos” Artistic and Theatrical Research Lab. He has acted in a host of theatrical productions, representing Colombia at international festivals in Washington, Sydney, Moscow, Caracas, Guanajuato, Guadalajara, Bogota, and other cities.
 
Widely praised for his acting ability, Julían has been ranked as one of the most influential Colombian actors and has played major roles in film, television and theater in Colombia.
 
In theater, he has participated in more than 40 productions, including The Feast of the Goat, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, and The Incredible and Sad Tale of Innocent Erendira and Her Heartless Grandmother.
 
His excellent performances on television have won him several accolades, including the 2004 India Catalina Award for best supporting actor in Francisco el matemático, the 2006 TV y Novelas Award for best supporting actor in Los Reyes, and the 2010 India Catalina Award for best lead actor in La bella Ceci y el imprudente.
 
He has also acted in TV productions such as Los Victorinos; El hijo de Nadia, his first major role; Marcelina (1997); ¿Por qué diablos? (1999); Me llaman Lolita (1999); Amor a mil (2001); Valentino el argentino (2008); Las muñecas de la mafia (2009); Los Tres Caines (2013); La viuda negra (2014); Lady, la vendedora de rosas (2015); and two episodes each of Fox-Telecolombia’s Mujeres asesinas (2007) and Tiempo Final (2007).
 
On the big screen, he has had roles in the films Técnicas de duelo (A Matter of Honor) (1988), Aguilas no cazan moscas (1994), and Golpe de estadio (Time Out) (1998) by Sergio Cabrera; La primera noche (The First Night) (2003) by Luís Alberto Restrepo; the short film Tres hombres, tres mujeres (2003) by Carlos Hernández; El trato (The Deal) (2005) by Francisco Norden; Juan Fischer’s Looking for Miguel (2007); and Portraits in a Sea of Lies (2010) by Carlos Gaviria, which brought him an honorable mention for his acting at the 14th Latino International Film Festival in Los Angeles in 2010.
 
His most recent project is the film The Seed of Silence, by debut director Felipe Cano, where he plays former soldier and professional bodyguard Roberto José Guerrero.
