Actor / Actress, Producers Associate

Martina García

Co-star of French-Spanish co-production Operation E, scheduled to hit Colombian Screens in March

Born in Bogota on June 27, 1981, Martina began combining acting and modeling careers at a young age and has been the face of teen clothing lines such as Gas Evolution and Jeans & Jackets. Martina took third place in the Elite "Look de Klass" contest and studied at the Paco Barrero Academy, the Studio XXI Foundation, with Alfonso Ortiz, and at the Juan Carlos Corazza Acting School in Madrid. She also traveled to London to study at the Central School of Speech & Drama, where she worked with Vincent Cassel and Ewan McGregor, star of Moulin Rouge and Star Wars.

Martina says the following about Operation E: "Telling a true story is always a risk, but without a doubt, the wonderful script, committed production staff, great locations, animals and weather, not to mention the naturalness of the children and lack of makeup and worn clothing and the spot-on intuition and complicity of Miguel and Luis - brilliant and fun both of them --  succeeded in creating an overpowering realism on this shoot, definitely one of the most demanding and amazing of my career, not only because of the genuine affection from my divine children (most important for both my character and me), or because we're telling the recent, and current history of the armed conflict in my country, but because of the absolute commitment of an entire team that gave 100% and saw their effort pay off more than once, especially at the emotional end of filming, where we all felt like survivors, as so many Colombians do, after leaving our hearts in the jungle".

She made her television debut in the series Francisco el matemático (1999) and went on to appear in Rosas del atardecer, María madrugada (2002) and La guerra de las rosas (1999), in which she played Caperuza, a misunderstood teen, and was nominated for an India Catalina for Best New Actress and for a TV y Novelas Award in the same category in 2000.

While in Edinburgh, Martina received an email with a profile of Rita and three scenes for an audition in Amor a la plancha (2003). She mailed back her proposal and started taping the soap directed by Mario Ribero in March. The role allowed her to evolve as an actress and establish herself in the world of television. She then worked on the hit series La saga: negocio de familia (2004) and in an episode of the Fox series Tiempo final before moving on to the Spanish TV teleseries Plan América.

García’s role in La saga coincided with her film debut in Sergio Cabrera's Perder es cuestión de método (2004), in which she played Quica, an 18 year-old prostitute who manages to make the underworld seem like child's play.

Opportunity knocked again with Andi Baiz's  Satanás  (2007) in which she played Natalie, the English student who is stabbed and killed by Eliseo in a scene she shared with Mexican actor Damian Alcazar. She ten took part in Fernando Lebrija's Colombian-Mexican debut film initially called Tierra de tigres and then Amar a morir (2009).

Martina has appeared in a total of ten international award-winning films and is also credited with a role in the romantic comedy Día naranja, the debut film by documentary and short filmmaker Szeplaki; a brief appearance in  Biutiful  by Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárruti, in which she shares a scene with Spanish actor Javier Bardem; a co-starring role in La mosquitera by Catalan filmmaker Agustí Vila; No eres tú, soy yo by Mexican documentary filmmaker, producer and director Alejandro Springall (Santitos); an associate producer credit on Colombian director Jose Luis Rugeles' Garcia (2010); a co-starring role in Sebastián Cordero's Rabia and Andi Baiz's La cara oculta (2012), co-produced by Fox International and premiered with great success in Spain before shooting to number one in Colombia and being sold to 16 countries including France and the U.S.; and her current role in Operation E (2013) by Miguel Courtois Paternina.
