Kymera Producciones
Kymera Productions is a Colombian company, founded in 2000, that produces contents for fim and television. The company, settled in Barranquilla, wants to consolidate a sustainable regional production in Colombia in order to decentralize the country’s audiovisual task and contribute to the construction of a more diverse national industry. Simultaneously, Kymera creates and executes initiatives in other disciplines and spaces that promote alternative channels of expression, public training and talent.
Among the most recent fims produced by Kymera Productions are the feature fim Heridas (Wounds) (2008), offial selection at the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival, the documentary television series Arte & Parte (Art & Part), the documentary Cerrando heridas (Closing Wounds) (2009), awarded by the Independent Producers Call Mincultura-CNTV, and the short film Maquillaje para ciegos (Make up for blind) (2010), granted the National Award for Short Film on Video from Bogotá in 2008 and winner of the Fiction-Video Creation Grant at the contest Portafolio de Estímulos 2009 from the Department of Culture of Barranquilla. In addition, in 2009 Kymera participated as an Associate Producer of the documentary Hija de la luz (Daughter of the light), produced by The Universidad del Norte. Later, Kymera produced the short fim Para Español marque 1 (For Spanish dial 1) (2011), which was also granted the National Award for Short Film on Video from Bogotá in 2010. In 2013, Kymera produced the feature fim Cazando luciérnagas (Chasing Firefles), screened at several prestigious fim festivals around the world, and winner of several internationallevel awards, such as Best Actress, Direction, Screenplay and Cinematography at The Gramado Film Festival in Brazil, and Best Actor, Cinematography and the Press Award at The Huelva Latin America Film Festival in Spain. The fim also participated in the section Alice in the City of The Rome Film Festival, as well as in The Chicago International Film Festival, among others.
In 2013, Kymera also produced The Barranquilla Bicentennial, a live musical show with more than 800 artist from diffrent filds and generations, which celebrated and paid tribute to the historical events leading to the creation of Barranquilla as an independent city. Currently, the company has two feature fims in developtment: El Paraíso (Paradise) and Tan lejos como puedas (As far as you can). Both of them were awarded the Colombian Film Fund in the category of Script Development. Besides that, Kymera produces the television series specialized in fimmaking Travelling, while its animation division works on the television series Waldo y Los Numerolocos, produced by the Universidad del Norte. Ruido Rosa (Pink Noise) (2014) is the third feature fim produced by Kymera Productions and had its world premiere at the Shanghai International Film Festival and the Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
