Lina Rodriguez

Lina is a Colombian/Canadian director, screenwriter, editor and producer who was born in Bogotá. She has a BFA and an MFA from York University, where she was nominated for the York University Governor General’s Gold Medal. She has also been part of BAFICI Talent Campus, TIFF Writer's Studio and has obtained multiple grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council and Toronto Arts Council. Lina has had retrospectives of her work at the prestigious Sala Lugones in Buenos Aires, the Cinemateca Distrital de Bogotá and Cineteca Madrid. 

Lina has written, directed, and produced six short films Convergences et rencontresPont du CarrouselProtocolEinschnitteante mis ojosAquí y allá. ante mis ojos had its world premiere at Wavelengths, the prestigious section of the Toronto International Film Festival, in addition to screenings at other festivals and cultural institutions such as Birkbeck Institute for the Moving Image and Harvard Film Archive. Aquí y allá was premiered at the Vancouver International Film Festival, in addition to screenings at other festivals and cultural institutions such as FICUNAM, BOGOSHORTS - Festival de Cortos de Bogotá, Museum of the Moving Image and aluCine Latin Film + Media Arts Festival, where it got the Best Experimental Film Award.

Her first feature film, Señoritas, had its world premiere at the Competencia Oficial Ficción of the Festival Internacional de Cine Cartagena de Indias (FICCI). The film also had screenings at festivals and cultural institutions such as Film at Lincoln Center (Nueva York), Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano (Cuba) and Fribourg International Film Festival (Switzerland), to mention a few. The film had a theatrical release at Cine Tonalá (Bogotá) and TIFF Bell Lightbox (Toronto). 

Her second feature, This Time Tomorrow, had its world premiere at Locarno Film Festival (Switzerland) The film also had screenings at festivals and cultural institutions such as Festival Internacional de Cine de Mar del Plata (Argentina), Bogotá International Film Festival, São Paulo International Film Festival (Brazil) y Göteborg Film Festival (Sweden), to mention a few. Mañana a esta hora had theatrical releases in five cities in Colombia (Babilla Cine), in Toronto (TIFF Bell Lightbox) and in New York (Metrograph).

Mis dos voces, her first feature film set in Canadá, will have its world premiere at the Forum section of the Berlin Film Festival. Lina is in post-production of So Much Tenderness, a feature film set in Toronto.
