Director of Audiovisuals, Film and Interactive Media of the Ministry of Cultures (CNACC)

Jaime Tenorio

Political scientist, cultural manager, producer and director of cinematography in the Ministry of Culture since February 2020.
 
Born in Cali, in 1973, Tenorio is a Political Scientist graduated from the Universidad de Los Andes (Bogota), with a Master Degree in Cultural Management ― Grant holder of the Andres Bello Agreement (CAB in Spanish)― of the University Institute Ortega y Gasset (Madrid), producer of the San Antonio de Los Baños International School of Film and Television (Cuba) –EICTV-.

He has served as general manager of the company Five7Media and director of the national educational and cultural public channel of the Public Media System RTVC, Señal Colombia during 2013 and 2016. Tenorio was also adviser in the Ministry of Culture of Colombia and the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies and Communications in Transmedia Colombia 3.0; adviser of the Chamber of Commerce on creative industries, among other positions; member and representative of producers in the National Council for Film Arts and Sciences –CNACC- between 2009 and 2011; member of the Film Arts and Sciences Academy of Colombia; adviser and exhibitor on media convergence; juror in cultural, audiovisual and new media calls within the country and abroad.

Since 2002, Tenorio has served as adviser and consultant of communication media projects regarding conceptualization and advising for communication on convergence matters. He has provided advice to companies such as the Cali Secretariat of Culture, the Cali Mayor’s Office, the television channel Telesur (Venezuela), the communications agency El Jardin de las delicias, the Children and Youth Directorate in the Ministry of Culture, the Heritage Directorate in the Ministry of Culture and Bogota Creativa in the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, just to mention a few.

In 2017 and 2018, Tenorio worked for the Administrative Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (Colciencias in Spanish), in the conceptualization of a strategy to draw up guidelines for Science, Technology and Innovation (CTeI) dissemination.

He has been content coordinator for multiplatform projects of production companies such as Tribu 70 Señal Colombia, where he served as convergent content producer for children’s programs. He was coordinator of the 1st International Exhibition and Meeting on Digital Books – Colombian Book Chamber, in 2010; coordinator of scenes for the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra, in 2009; coordinator of 2006 and 2004 Canada Cinema in the District’s Film Archive; Coordinator of cinema season at the Embassy of Sweden in Colombia (2003); curator of the 1999 Ibero American Film Exhibition in the forum “El cine, memoria de un pueblo. Los que no somos Hollywood, capitulo Colombia”.

He has also served as associate professor in the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Political Science Faculty, giving the subject: Latin America through the audiovisual media. Tenorio also was, from 2004 to 2006, Chief of the Production Chair in the International School of Cinema and Television - EICTV of San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba, as well Chief of the Specialty on Production and member of the Academic Council of the EICTV. In 2004, he served as coordinator of the scholarship-course for training editors of landscape books of the Andean group in Cartagena.

He was Guest Editor of the Cuaderno de Cine Colombiano. Instrumentos del Estado para el fomento del cine (Colombian Cinema Journal. Instruments for Fostering Cinema) published by IDARTES in 2017. Tenorio has served as juror in important film competitions and calls, such as the Ibermedia Fund Call for the Co-production category; Feature Film Production Call of the Audiovisual Promotion Competition of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage of Chile; New Media Colombia and Transmedia Alliance Colombia, led by the Ministry of ICTs, Proimagenes Colombia, ANTV and the Bogota Chamber of Commerce. He has been juror in several occasions during the calls of the Film Development Fund of Colombia – FDC. In 2014, Tenorio was president of the documentary jury in the Havana Film Festival, among other events he has attended, such as the Meeting of Producers of the 2016 FICCI; Cinema without Borders - Valdivia Film Festival (2011); Buenos Aires Film Festival Talent Campus –BAFICI- (2012); Guadalajara Film Festival (2014); Ventana Sur Buenos Aires (Buenos Aires South Window), (2014); among others.

From 2007 to 2009, and again in 2019, Tenorio was adviser for the Film Directorate of the Ministry of Culture. This time, supporting the former director (Julian David Correa) in the comprehensive strengthening of the film and audiovisual ecosystem, with emphasis in producing articulation with the Office of the Vice Minister for Creativity and Orange Economy and institutional relationships with entities comprising the National Council of Orange Economy. He supported the Film Directorate, especially with respect to the comprehensive strengthening of the film ecosystem, with territorial and population emphasis, as well as regarding liaison with economic sectors.

He assumed, in February 2020, the Film Directorate in the Ministry of Culture.
