Celebrities from around the world attend a variety of events in Colombia

A number of international guests took part in events in Colombia during the months of November and December: Michel Reilhac, Executive Director and Commissioning Editor at ARTE France, Chilean Miguel Littín and Argentine director Juan José Campanella (El secreto de sus ojos) were only a few of the world cinema celebrities visiting our country for events which included the Cross/Transmedia Seminar, the Audiovisual Authors Salon and the Santa Fe de Antioquia Film Festival.

8th Diaspora without Borders 2011 Awareness Conference Closes

From October 7-23, and for the 8th year in a row, the 2011 Diaspora without Borders: Colombia-Barcelona Awareness Conference took place offering a series of events organized by Asociación Imago who through the use of visual arts and new technologies analyze and seek to create awareness about Colombian reality. The biggest innovation this year was the presence of guest country Brazil and their introduction to one of the conference’s central themes this year: environmental protection.

“The Colors of the Mountain” Colombia’s choice for Oscar and “The Squad” for 2012 Goya Awards

The Board of Directors of the Colombian Academy of Film Arts and Sciences chose Carlos Cesar Arbelaez’s The Colors of the Mountain to represent Colombia at the 2012 Academy Awards in the United States. Jaime Osorio Marquez’s The Squad was selected to represent the nation at the 2012 Goya Awards bestowed by the Spanish Film Academy. Both productions received grants from Colombia’s Film Development Fund.

Fat, Bald, Short Man hits festival circuit

Carlos Osuna’s Fat, Bald, Short Man began its run of international festivals with two screenings at the Biarritz Film Festival during the months of September and October. The Colombian film, winner of a 2009 Digital Finalization for Feature Film grant from Colombia’s Film Development Fund (FDC), will travel to five major international festivals during the months of October and November.
