Colombian Feature “Crab Trap” - Praised in Cahiers du Cinema – Released in France and Argentina

“Crab Trap” or “La Barra” as the film is known in Europe, hit French theaters on January 19 thanks to distributors Arizona Films. Oscar Ruiz Navia’s feature was also introduced to readers of the French film journal Cahiers du Cinema as “a tiny phenomenon at numerous festivals, “La Barra” is far from being a simple standard-bearer for Colombia’s awakening film industry. It is, first and foremost, an extraordinarily beautiful first film.” Almost simultaneously, starting January 22, Argentina will also be able to enjoy the award-winning film thanks to Proa Cine.

Colombian Documental “Beatriz González, Why Are You Crying?” Screens at Festivals Around the World

January 28-29, Colombian director Diego García-Moreno’s documentary “Beatriz González, Why Are You Crying?” screened as part of the Official Documentary Selection at the 2011 FIPA (International Audiovisual Programs Festival) in the city of Biarritz, France. The feature documentary, winner of an FDC (Film Development Fund) grant, is also part of the Official Selection at BAFICI this year (Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival) scheduled for April 2001.

51st Cartagena International Film Festival Floats in on a New Breeze

It’s almost time for the 51st Cartagena International Film Festival (FICCI) scheduled from February 24th – March 3rd. This year Mexico is the guest of honor and the Colombian film The Colors of the Mountain (Los colores de la montaña) by director Carlos César Arbeláez, winner of the Kutxa New Directors Award at the last San Sebastian Film Festival, will screen at the opening gala.
