Colombian winners at Ventana Sur

Nine Colombian productions received awards at Latin America's top audiovisual market, organized by the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) and the Marché du Film of the Cannes Film Festival.

In 15 years, Ventana Sur has evolved into Latin America's go-to audiovisual market, drawing distributors and buyers from the international film industry. Every year, the event hosts 3,000 accredited attendees, including more than 250 buyers and sellers from across the world and representatives from major global networks and platforms. The event offers opportunities for networking through business rounds, pitching sessions, and one-on-one meetings. Attendees can also engage in round tables, specialized activities for producers with ongoing projects, workshops, talks, and conferences covering present-day topics with a forward-looking perspective.

Ventana Sur, across its sections like Primer CorteCopia FinalBlood Window, Animation!, ProyectaPunto GéneroSoloSeriesEl Principio del FilmMaquinitas, and DocSur, along with its lineup of activities like conferences, screenings, and the Video Bookstore, champions Latin American content spanning fiction, documentaries, animation, fantasy, and Latin American queer genres. It offers diverse business opportunities and promotion avenues that stand out in the region.
 
In 2023, the event drew over 4,880 accredited participants, marking the highest attendance in 15 editions. It welcomed 255 global buyers and distributors representing 45 countries and hosted 596 speed meetings. Attendees engaged in conferences, panels, screenings, training sessions, and pitchings, fostering strategic collaborations for audiovisual content transactions and co-productions among Ibero-American nations. Colombia notably stood out with significant participation, showcasing several successful projects, as highlighted in PANTALLA COLOMBIA 125.

- In the Primer Corte (First Cut) section, the project Semillas (Seeds), directed by Eliana Niño, received the NMF / COLOR FRONT Award.
 
- In Blood Window LAB, Al final de la noche (At the End of the Night) by Jorge Navas won the TerrorMolins Coproduction Forum Award. 
 
- In Animation! Pitching Sessions Astropackers by Luisa Fernanda Velázquez and Felipe Rodríguez was the winner of WEIRD Animation, Video Games & New Media Market. 
 
- In the Punto Género (Genre Point) section, the winning project was Aquí me quedo (Here I Stay) by Obeida Benavides.
 
- In SoloSeries (OnlySeries), Impermanente (Impermanent) by Laura Otálora won the award from Netflix.
 
- In El Principio del Film (The Beginning of the Film), Ángel eléctrico (Electric Angel) by Carlos Franco was the winning Final Draft project.
 
- The Doc Sur (South Doc) section awarded a Special Mention to the feature documentary in post-production En aguas profundas viaja un sueño (In Deep Waters a Dream Travels) by Inti Jacanamijoy.
 
- Finally, the Remakes section presented the feature films El páramo (The Highlands) by Jaime Osorio Márquez and 180 segundos (180 Seconds) by Alexander Giraldo.

Colombian Films in Berlin and Sundance
