The Colombian film industry continues to grow steadily, evident in Netflix's 2024 offerings. The streaming platform confirms the release of five productions for the year. Notably, there's a decline in Mexican productions, down to just five from the previous year's 14. However, there's a more balanced representation of Spanish-language series and movies, with an increase in Argentine and Colombian content. Argentina surpasses Mexico with eight productions, while Colombia matches its number.

The Colombian productions are:

  • Cien años de soledad (One Hundred Years of Solitude, Álex García López and Laura Mora).
  • Second season of Perfil falso ("Fake Profile") (TIS).
  • La primera vez (The First Time, Caracol).
  • Secuestro del vuelo 601 (Kidnapping of Flight 601, Miracol).
  • Juanpis González: el presidente de la gente (Juanpis González: The People's President) (Dynamo).

Perfil falso 2, Cien años de soledad, and La primera vez are the beneficiary productions of the CINA incentive (Audiovisual Investment Certificate). These certificates offer advantages to investors since they serve as negotiable security issued in the name of a foreign audiovisual producer who invests resources in Colombia, either for the production or post-production of his project (film, series, music videos, video games, or audiovisual commercial production). They also provide an income tax deduction, representing a tax break of 35% of the expenditure on audiovisual and logistical services made by a foreign production company in the country. Since February 2022, the incentive has allowed the beneficiary audiovisual works to claim this benefit, trade it on the stock market, or transfer it to individuals or legal entities filing income tax returns in Colombia.

Cien años de soledad, a series adapted from the novel of the same name by Gabriel García Márquez, is directed by Alex García López and Laura Mora. The script was written by José Rivera, Natalia Santa, Camila Brugés, María Camila Arias and Albatros González. Executive producers are Diego Ramírez Schrempp, Andrés Calderón, Josep Amorós, Alex García López, Laura Mora, José Rivera, Rodrigo García Barcha and Gonzalo García Barcha.

La primera vez 2, directed by Darío Armando García "Dago," serves as a sequel to a series set in the 1970s that offers insights into the social dynamics of youth during that era. It has become one of the most-watched Colombian productions on Netflix.

Perfil falso, directed by Klych López and Catalina Hernández, sheds light on the pitfalls faced by users of dating apps and social networks.

These productions are among those that have benefited from the incentives provided by Law 1556, which went into effect in 2023. They include La primera vez, El grito de las mariposas (The Cry of the Butterflies), La ley de la selva (The Law of the Jungle), the second season of Pálpito (The Marked Heart), Calle and Poché sin etiquetas (Calle and Poché: No Labels), Los iniciados (The Initiates), and Paraíso blanco (Crazy Charlie). In addition, films such as Ambush, Tomorrow Before After, Sound of Freedom, and What You Wish For have been released under the Colombian Film Fund (FFC).
