The Colombian Film Commission organized a familiarization trip (FamTrip) for key executives in the audiovisual industry to Colombia's iconic cities: Bogota, Medellin, and Cartagena. Discover the details.
The FamTrip, organized by the Colombia Film Commission of Proimágenes Colombia, kicked off in Bogotá on April 14. With support from the Bogotá Film Commission and Invest in Bogotá, guests enjoyed a full agenda of cultural and business activities. These included a guided tour of the Bogotá Cinemateca, where they explored the Espejo de luz (Mirror of Light) exhibition. This interactive and traveling experience, supported by the Consejo Nacional de las Artes y la Cultura en Cinematografía - CNACC (Colombian Council for the Arts and Culture in Cinematography) with funds from the Fondo para el Desarrollo Cinematográfico - FDC (Colombian Film Development Fund) and developed by Proimágenes Colombia in co-production with the Cinemateca de Bogotá, celebrates emerging Colombian cinema as a result of Law 814 of 2003. During the visit, guests also watched the short film Paloquemao, directed by Jeferson Cardoza Herrera. The day ended with a tour of the historic La Candelaria neighborhood.
The second day was dedicated to one-on-one business meetings with Bogota's leading service production companies. Executives also had the opportunity to network with audiovisual industry representatives at the Bogota Chamber of Commerce.
After flying into Medellín, participants explored the city's most iconic sites, including a visit to Telemedellín and a trip to Santa Elena. In Cartagena, with the support of the Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival (FICCI), the adventure continued with an excursion to the islands, led by Jaguar Bite, and a guided tour of the historic walled city. The stay in Cartagena also included exceptional culinary experiences and a screening of the classic Colombian film La estrategia del caracol (The Strategy of the Snail), which highlighted both the past and future of cinema in the region.
Among the participants were high-level executives from the international film industry, including Sarah Roberts of New Line Cinema, Mindy MacInnes and Krutin Patel of HBO, Joanna Porto of Secuoya, Steven Yell of Showtime, Eva Garrido Pérez of Mediapro, and Dennis Stratton of Platonic Systems.
This FamTrip was not only an opportunity to showcase Colombia's beauty and capabilities as a destination for audiovisual productions but also a platform to promote international collaborations and highlight the incentives Colombia offers for producing high-quality content.
