At the 72nd San Sebastián International Film Festival, Colombia will be represented in the Horizontes Latinos section with La piel en primavera (Colombia, Chile), a debut feature written and directed by Yennifer Uribe Alzate and produced by Monociclo Cine (Colombia) and Pinda (Chile). The movie follows Sandra, a new security guard at a shopping mall. On her first day, she meets a bus driver with whom she begins an affair. Sandra faces her intimate life and begins a journey of self-discovery through her own desire. The Film Development Fund - FDC supported this production in the Fiction Feature Film Production, First Director's Film category (2019).

Also in this section is Querido trópico (Panama, Colombia) by Ana Endara, who co-wrote the script with Pilar Moreno. Isabella Gálvez produced the film in collaboration with Joan Gómez. The film's premise is about a Colombian immigrant working as a janitor in Panama City. Hiding a secret, she forms a profound and unexpected bond with a wealthy businesswoman struggling with early-onset dementia. The film has already won awards, such as the European Distributors and Exhibitors Award at the 43rd Films in Progress, a section of the Toulouse Film Festival that helps filmmakers complete their films for the international stage, and will have its world premiere at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

On the other hand, WIP Latam will take place from September 23 to 25 as part of the festival's industry activities. Piedras preciosas (Precious Stones) by Simón Vélez will represent Colombia in this section, where six Latin American films in post-production will be presented to industry professionals. The film follows Machado, a Colombian immigrant who has lived in France for several years and works in the grape harvest. His earnings barely cover the high cost of living in Europe. He meets Madame Chiara, a jewelry collector, who hires him to travel to Colombia and steal an emerald. Although Machado is concerned about the risks of returning to Colombia, Chiara persuades him with an offer he cannot refuse. In Colombia, he faces the bustling life of downtown Medellín and nature in the mountains. During his stay, he becomes involved in a pilot's crime and tries to betray Chiara by finding a new buyer for the emerald.

Finally, at the Co-Production Forum, three Colombian projects were among the fourteen selected from 269 submissions, along with a project by a Colombian director with foreign production. This forum provides an opportunity to present these works to potential partners who can help secure additional financing and access to international markets.

Among the Colombian projects selected are Mar de leva (Groundswell, Colombia, France), directed by Mariana Saffon Ramírez and produced by Evidencia Films; Otro jardín (Another Garden, Colombia), directed by Mariana Gil Ríos and produced by Daniela Echeverri of Movimiento Cine; and La levedad de ella (The Lightness of Her, Cuba, Mexico, Colombia), directed by Rosa María Rodríguez Pupo of Cuba and produced by GatoRosafilms. Colombian director Jorge Cadena will also participate with his project Malestar tropical (Tropical Discomfort, Switzerland, France), produced by GoldenEggProduction.
