From January 31 to February 8, the 47th edition of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival took place. The event, held in this French city, is the second-largest film festival in France after Cannes, in terms of audience and professional attendance, with over 160,000 attendees and 3,500 industry professionals each year.

In the International Competition, the short film Lanawaru, directed by Angello Faccini and produced by Constanza Pérez (Violeta Films) and John Martin (Conservation International), was featured. The story follows a young boy who, after a member of the local community disappears, faces an early memory and seeks solace in indigenous traditions, healing rituals, and the guidance of his grandfather.

In the National Competition, 1 hijo & 1 padre (1 Son & 1 Father), directed by Andrés Ramírez Pulido and produced by Alta Rocca Films (France) and Valiente Gracia (Colombia), was selected. Kevin is labeled as a problematic teenager who struggles to control his impulses when provoked. After a recent mistake, he’s required to attend therapy for troubled adolescents with his father, but his father refuses. Instead, his stepfather, Don Andrés, who resembles more of a younger brother than a father figure, is chosen to accompany him. This Colombian short film made its way to Clermont-Ferrand after screening at prestigious festivals such as Locarno and Toronto.

For the 2025 edition, Colombia had a strong presence at the Short Film Market with a delegation of filmmakers and representatives from the eight short films featured in Volume 6 of Refresh, thanks to support from the Film Development Fund (FDC). They took part in various festival events, including the Market Screening at the George-Conchon Theater. Their primary goal was to expand their networks, connect with festivals and sales agents aligned with short films, and present their projects to a wider audience, including festivals and distributors.

Proimágenes Colombia supported the delegation at the G2 stand in the Jean-&-Honoré-Fleury gym, where the market is held each year. The International Promotion team organized meetings to introduce Colombian short films and facilitated exchanges with delegations from other countries to encourage international collaboration among filmmakers and their content.

Lastly, the short film Espantapájaros (Scarecrow) by Juan Pablo Sánchez, produced by Salomé Björk, participated in Talents Connection thanks to the fast track it earned at the 8th BFM - BOGOSHORTS Film Market, held during the 22nd edition of BOGOSHORTS - Bogotá Short Film Festival. Also representing the Bogoshorts Universe were the festival's founder and director, Jaime E. Manrique, and assistant director, Miguel Morales. They supported the project and represented the festival alongside the BOGOSHORTS Film Agency, which showcased a selection of Colombian and Latin American films for its 2025/2026 lineup.
