Under the direction of Laura Mora and Carlos Moreno, with new talents in the cast, the filming of the second part of the Netflix series benefiting from the Audiovisual Investment Certificates - CINA has begun.

Netflix has started filming the second part of Cien años de Soledad (One Hundred Years of Solitude), an adaptation of the most iconic work by Colombian Nobel laureate Gabriel García Márquez. Its first part, released in December 2024, ranked among the top 3 non-English language series globally on the streaming platform. Just days after its release, it achieved impressive numbers, such as 3.6 million views.
The second installment continues to be directed by Laura Mora (Los reyes del mundo / The Kings of the World), joined by Carlos Moreno (Perro come perro / Dog Eat Dog), a director who has previously worked with Netflix on his film Lavaperros (2020) and the series Distrito salvaje (Wild District, 2019). Moreno has also been involved in other productions benefiting from the Audiovisual Investment Certificates (CINA), such as Goles en contra (The Final Score, 2022) and Los iniciados, el diario de las sombras (The Initiated: Written from the Shadows).
"Let me express my recognition for Laura Mora's work, whose rigor and passion have been essential in this journey, and for Carlos Moreno, an extraordinary Colombian filmmaker and a dear friend of the house. We are in the best hands to successfully conclude the story of the Buendía family," said Francisco Ramos, Vice President of Content for Netflix Latin America.
Regarding the cast of the eight episodes that are part of this second stage of production, new additions include Ángela Cano (Vuelo 601 / The Hijacking of Flight 601), Emmanuel Restrepo (Malta), Estefanía Piñeres (Malta), María Adelaida Puerta (El capo / The Boss), Emiliano Pernía (Perfil falso 2 / Fake Profile 2), Juanita Molina (Betty la fea, la historia continúa / Betty La Fea, The Story Continues)), Laura Taylor (Nuevo rico, nuevo pobre / Newly Rich, Newly Poor), Obeida Benavides (Chepe fortuna), Julián Román (Del otro lado del jardín / On the Other Side of the Garden), and Carla Baratta (Mayans M.C.). They will join Úrsula Iguarán and Colonel Aureliano Buendía, played by Marleyda Soto (La tierra y la sombra / The Land and the Shadow) and Claudio Cataño (Horizonte / Horizon).
The production of Cien años de soledad is supported by the Audiovisual Investment Certificates (CINA) of the National Government of Colombia and the Film Commission of Proimágenes Colombia. Filming of the series has taken place in various locations across Colombia, from the Caribbean coasts to the Andean paramos, mangroves, and many other landscapes.
Recreating Macondo was no easy task, and the team was well aware of the challenge they faced. They traveled to Aracataca (Magdalena), La Guajira, Ciénaga Grande, and the Andes to later build a Macondo that would satisfy the readers of one of the most important novels of the Latin American boom.
The first part of the adaptation was praised for its fidelity to the original text and for its impressive work in cinematography and setting, as seen in specialized media like The Hollywood Reporter. "The series' scripts manage to capture the essence of García Márquez's poetic prose, using many of the book's original words. This level of detail, along with the creation of an entire town to recreate the mythical Macondo, has been one of the most valued aspects by critics," the portal Infobae reported.

Additionally, the CINA certificates, managed by Proimágenes Colombia and backed by the government, provide a 35% tax discount on audiovisual service expenses within Colombian territory.
