Amazon Prime shoots in Colombia, with the production services of FoxTelecolombia, the series inspired by the homonymous book by the Nobel Prize Winner for literature Gabriel García Márquez.

The streaming platform Amazon Prime announced that it is currently producing a new original series inspired by the book Noticia de un hijacking, written by the Nobel Prize Winner for literature Gabriel García Márquez and published in 1996. The book tells the story of a group of journalists and relatives of Colombian politicians who were kidnapped in 1990 by Pablo Escobar and "Los Extraditables", to force the then president, César Gaviria, to dismantle the extradition to the United States and negotiate a pardon, within the framework of the war between the State and drug trafficking cartels.

The book begins with the abduction of the journalist and director of Focine Maruja Pachón and Beatriz Villamizar de Guerrero on the afternoon of November 7, 1990. It examines not only this one, but a total of 9 related kidnappings. On August 30, 1990, Diana Turbay, director of the news program Criptón and Hoy x Hoy magazine, had been kidnapped along with five other members of her newscast. These include editor Azucena Liévano, writer Juan Vitta, camera operators Richard Becerra and Orlando Acevedo, and German photographer Hero Buss. The journalist is the daughter of former Colombian president and leader of the Liberal Party Julio César Turbay. The kidnappings of Marina Montoya and the Editor-in-chief of the newspaper El Tiempo, Francisco "Pacho" Santos, on September 18, 1990, are also recounted in the book.

Composed of six chapters of one hour each, Noticia de un secuestro has a stellar cast made up of renowned actors from the national industry such as Juan Pablo Raba (Alberto Villamizar), Majida Issa (Diana Turbay), Cristina Umaña (Maruja Pachón), Carmenza Gómez (Marina Montoya), Julieth Restrepo (Beatriz Villamizar), Constanza Duque (Nydia Quintero), Carlos Manuel Vesga Serrato, Carlos Mariño and Jairo Camargo, among others. "We are incredibly proud of the amazing cast and talent behind this series, and it has been exciting to have the support of Rodrigo García, who will help us bring his father's legacy to millions of Prime Video customers around the world," said Balmaceda. .
