Colombian Presence at Ventana Sur

The latest edition of Ventana Sur brought strong international visibility to Colombian projects, with several titles receiving major awards. Las vidas de Marie (Marie's Lives) earned a Special Jury Mention in VS Animation. Donde comienza el río (Where the River Begins) received both the Nacho Mazzini Family / Colorfront Award and the Stone Milk Award in Primer Corte. Falso positivo (False Positive) was awarded the San Sebastian Film Festival Prize in Proyecta, as well as the Sørfond Pitching Forum Award. Fura won the C21 Content Americas Award in VS Series, and El aire que se escapa (The Air That Slips Away) received the TATTÚ Translation Studio Award in VS Scripts. These recognitions positioned Colombian projects among the most prominent at the Latin American audiovisual market.

The Ibermedia program and the 10th edition of Sapcine have announced their selected projects, with a strong Colombian presence across coproduction, co-development, and training categories. These selections reflect continued regional support for Ibero-American cinema and confirm the sustained growth of Colombia's audiovisual sector.

Colombian Presence at MIP Cancun

The 12th edition of MIP Cancun took place in Mexico from November 18 to 21, bringing together audiovisual professionals focused on expanding the circulation and development of television projects. This year, Colombia stood out with a strong presence that included an industry recognition for Claudia Triana, Director of Proimágenes Colombia, who received the Industry Pillar Award at the PRODU Awards, held as part of the event. In addition, seven Colombian regional broadcasters attended as part of a coordinated delegation, operating from a shared stand where they held meetings, presented projects with international circulation potential, and explored new strategic partnerships, with support from MinTIC and Proimágenes Colombia.

Three Films at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival

Three Colombian productions were selected for the 29th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, held from November 7 to 23 in the Estonian capital. The lineup included Una vez en un cuerpo (Once in a Body; Colombia, United States), directed by María Cristina Pérez; Disfonías (Dysphonias), directed by María Camila Pulgarín and Manuela Giraldo; and The Megalomaniacs (Greece, Cyprus, Colombia), directed by Spiros Stathoulopoulos.

Colombian presence at San Sebastián

The 73rd edition of the San Sebastián International Film Festival took place from September 19 to 27, marking a historic milestone for Colombia. Un poeta (A Poet) , directed by Simón Mesa Soto, won the Horizontes Make & Mark Award, the first time a Colombian film has received this honor. Meanwhile, in the WIP Latam section, the project A la hora de poner la mesa ya no éramos cinco (We Were No Longer Five) won the Egeda Platino Industry Award in its category. Colombian participation also included La lucha (Dance of the Living) in the New Directors section, and Llueve sobre babel (Rains Over Babel) , which competed for the Sebastiane Latino Award. Cinematographer Angello Faccini took part in Horizontes Latinos with La misteriosa mirada del flamenco (The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo) . In addition, two projects - Elogio del crimen (Praise for Crime) and Hijas del agua (Daughters of the Water) — were presented in the Europe–Latin America Co-Production Forum. The Colombian delegation included five talents and representatives from 19 companies, including production houses and film festivals. Proimágenes Colombia was represented by its director, Claudia Triana, and deputy director of Promotion, Katalina Tobón.

Colombia at Biarritz

At the 34th Biarritz Latin America Festival, the Colombian lineup included the feature films Un poeta (A Poet), Hijo de tigre y mula (Son of Tiger and Mule), Culebra negra (Black Snake), and Horizonte (Horizon), along with the short films Lanawaru and Un día de mayo (A Day in May). Ubeimar Ríos, lead actor in Un poeta, received an award for his performance.
